Four Things You Should Know About 4K TVs

Technology does not stop surprising us and what we thought was new the following year is displaced by something that surpasses it. The digital revolution goes through all the devices and, when the time comes to renew, there is always much to learn. In the field of televisions, the latest in image quality has a name and surname: we tell you what a 4K is on TV and we share the keys to decide if it is a good option for your home.

  1. The difference between a 4K/UHD resolution and a 1080p/HD resolution is really hard to notice. We worked in a laboratory watching the images at a very close distance, comparing a 65-inch TV with 1080p screen with a 65-inch with 4K resolution. Despite all the extra pixels contained in the 4K, most of the time we did not see a big difference in the detail. Larger televisions or closer distances make the difference more visible; something that happens with computer graphics, animation and games, but even that is not drastic.

Also, do not expect to receive the benefits offered by computer monitors or higher resolution mobile phones (Apple’s Retina display, for example). That analogy is irrelevant for televisions, since you do not watch television with your face attached to the screen or just a few centimeters.

  1. If you want the best picture quality on an LCD next year, you may have to buy an ultra-high definition LED TV anyway. The televisions that we tried showed an excellent image quality and, for their price, they better be good. All 4K TVs on the market use LCD screens illuminated by LEDs and use some of the best features to improve image quality.
  2. Despite the lack of content, 4K TV’s will soon be affordable and very popular. The LCD screen TVs are easy to manufacture with a 4K resolution, so there will soon be these televisions at prices for the masses. Panasonic, for example, predicts that 40 percent of the 60-inch TVs that will be sold in 2019 will be 4K image quality.
  3. The 4K will not make 1080p TVs soon obsolete. There is already some original content in 4K, like some YouTube videos and surely more will come from Netflix and Blu-rays 4K next year. But it will be many, many years before television and producers replace all their high definition equipment with cameras and special accessories for 4K. And, when they do, there’s no guarantee that those images will look better than their HD counterparts. Even today, high-definition channels vary enormously in quality, due to restrictions in bandwidths and not differences in resolution.

Meanwhile, a standard LED TV android purchased in the next few years will still be perfectly viable by the time you have it. Sure, you may not be able to use it to play the most advanced game content in 4K but you probably will not even notice the difference.

Not more than a year ago the trend of new models with an unprecedented screen resolution – 3840 by 2160 points was emerging. We published a small study on these models as an article.

Since then, Ultra HD (4K) quality televisions have become much more familiar to the market. The number of manufacturers of such devices has exceeded ten, and among them, even little-known Chinese companies and their Indian partners have appeared.

At the same time, there were also advances on the factors that we wrote about in our 2013 material as constraints: this is the price of Ultra HD TVs, this is the actual need to replace Full HD with Ultra HD in a home theater, and this is the availability of 4K content: movies, streaming clips, airtime.

Price is no longer scary

Speaking about the price factor, we can safely say that using an Ultra HD resolution matrix on a TV is Full HD — an option expensive, but not excessive. The high price of 4K TVs is made up of the fact that almost all of them have a screen diagonal of at least 55 inches, and also have full 3D support and Smart TV functions in one form or another.

Compared to last year, the cost of Ultra HD TVs fell by about 35 percent. The spread of the fall – from 20% on flagship models with huge screens up to 50 – on TVs with a diagonal of 55-65 inches.

Finally, it should be noted that low-priced models of low-cost brands are actively exerting pressure on the market. Given that the technology of production of Ultra HD screens over the past three years has already been worked out quite well, to the creation of 4K TVs, original companies from China have joined. It is their actions that can explain the presence in the market of devices with a price of less than 40 thousand. For example – DNS H50DXT880.

Inches – extra and necessary

Arguing about the need to replace Full HD TVs on Ultra HD for home use, there was one significant change throughout the year: customers ‘requests and manufacturers’ suggestions found a certain compromise point. It lies in the fact that the market has established the view that the Ultra HD format becomes useful when the screen diagonal is at least 55 inches.

Generally, speaking of the size of Ultra HD TVs, we still do not see a clear standardization of the sizes of the diagonals. However, some rules are already drawn. Thus, the flagship models have matrices of 84-85 inches diagonal. The golden mean can be considered a diagonal of 65 inches. Well, the “small” 4K standard models are called if their diagonal screen is 55 inches.

Internet goes to the aid of television

The availability factor of content worthy of viewing on an Ultra HD TV over the past year has not become less relevant, but its shape has softened.

The content for 4K TVs can be of four types: television, movies on discs, video from digital media (from flash cards to a streaming signal from the Internet) and videos created independently

4K OR FULL HD: Which TV To Buy?

Being interested in the field of electronics, users mark the appearance of TV-devices, with the help of which the image is shown in the highest quality, with thin and large screens. Innovative technology enables each user to enjoy high-quality video, with a detailed picture. With the popularization of modernized devices, consumers are thinking about which is better – 4K or Full HD? Which option is more appropriate?

Benefits of Ultra HD TVs

The first advantage of Ultra HD is a proper viewing of the TV at a relatively short distance. The screen of this device is known for the resolution, which is considered to be ultra-high (approximately 8 million pixels).

This means that the picture as detailed as possible and looks clearer compared to previous versions of TVs. The main advantages of ultra-high definition LED TV should include:

  • The clear image is detailing by using proprietary technologies and increasing the pixel density. A person easily perceives such a picture.
  • Progressive scan rates – up to 120 frames per second. As a result, the load on the vision is reduced, and the eyes are not so tired, even if you watch TV for hours.
  • Deep display of a large number of colors increases dynamic range. In the most lightened and darkened areas of the picture, any detail is transmitted very clearly. All shades and colors appear brighter and more saturated.
  • Enhanced sound quality. On Ultra HD TVs, multichannel sound is realized, with 24 audio channels.

This technique will entice the attention of fans of video games, because it creates the most realistic picture, contributing to the full immersion into the world of virtual reality. In stores, you can already find games with the support of this format.

4K matrix makes a three-dimensional image viewed by the viewer from all positions. To view high-quality three-dimensional images do not need 3D glasses.

The chief drawback of this method is the lack of sufficient content. Despite the appearance in the sale of 4K TVs, files that support this format are still negligible. To view the TV channels on such a device, you need a complete hardware upgrade. Now they are not able to transmit a signal in the right format.

Is there enough content in high resolution, and where to find it?

Despite the popularization of such a technique available to wide use of content for viewing in high resolution, there is still little. You cannot watch your best-loved movie or TV series in 4K format. You have to spend time finding the right files.

Choosing in favor of modernized technologies, you can be sure that with time they will not become obsolete, but will become even more popular. It will take several years, and this technique will be much cheaper and more convenient to use. The world is already trying to adapt to the 4K format – LED TV android is rapidly developing, so we have reason to assert that it will soon finally drive out other televisions from the market.

Ten Differences Between an LCD TV and an LED

The evolution of television has been amazing over the years: from old black and white devices to modern digital screens. However, the technology can be confusing at times. And since there is a wide variety of devices to choose from, it is necessary to point out the differences between LED and LCD, with the aim of knowing precisely the characteristics of two of the most popular types of television on the market.

10 differences between an LED TV and an LCD:

  1. LCD TVs work based on a cold cathode fluorescent lamp located on the back of the device. This, in turn, retro illuminates the pixels to project the image on the liquid crystal display. In contrast, LEDs use light-emitting diodes instead of fluorescent lights.
  2. For a long time, LCD TVs were unable to rival the gamut of black colors of plasma TVs. However, the technology of the latest LED models has allowed the display of this color on the screen to be of the highest possible quality. Thanks to a function called loco attenuation l, which consists in turning off and on the diodes to achieve a perfect contrast.
  3. The image quality of LED is superior to that of LCDs due to the technology used by LED TV manufacturing companies in India. The backlight of the LEDs allows the range of colors to be wider, have a better contrast and also present a better fidelity in full HD (1080p) format.
  4. Best LED TV brand in Delhi has the greater efficiency in energy saving compared with LCD. This, due to the lower use of light used for the deployment of images, making them an excellent option for the family economy.
  5. Cutting-edge technologies such as 3D and Smart TV are much easier to find in LED models than in LCDs, due to the boom that the former has had during the last years.
  6. The gradual fall in the popularity and sales of the LCD has also caused its price to decrease. Therefore, LEDs are generally more expensive, but on the other hand, their cost is justified thanks to the multiple functions and characteristics of this type of television.
  7. LED TVs offer thinner models than LCD TVs. This characteristic has influenced so that a significant part of the public prefers them not only for the excellent quality of image that they offer but for its attractive design that fits perfectly in any space.
